The War that Saved my Life
This book is about a girl who lives during WWII and has a clubbed foot. She has an abusive mother and the mother won't let her go outside or even out of their flat. [an apartment] Ada and Jamie go to a different house to escape bombing. Find out more in The War that Saved my Life.
Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library
Mr. Lemoncello's library is a fun 6 book series. I read the first one twice and I am almost done with the second book. It is about a loony billionare game inventor that has a huge love for public libraries and in particular, his childhood library. He loves them so much that he builds a multi-million dollar library. As a game maker, he creates a game for 12 12 year-olds that have grown up without a public library. The students have to write an essay for judges to judge to see what kids go to the library. Who makes it? Who wins the game? Find out in Mr. Lemoncello's Library!
Rip and Red
Rip and Red are two characters in Phil Bildner's basketball chapter book series. Rip is a standout player and has a firey competitive spirit, playing for his school basketball team. Red is an autistic student and Rip's best friend. Red does not have as much competitive spirit in him, but he does love playing HORSE on Rip's X-box and never loses. In addition to that, he almost never misses a real life foul shot. Until the end, Rip and Red are always there for each other.
